Elmina, Dec. 30, GNA - The deputy Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, was on Friday honoured by the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) district assembly for his exemplary leadership during his tenure in the district as the Chief Executive. A citation read by his successor, Mr Frank Asmah, described him as "an enthusiastic young man of vision with a wide range of experience in decentralization and good governance".

Nana Arthur, whose award coincided with the second ordinary session of the assembly, was presented with a kente cloth. The citation further said Nana Arthur has a "proven track record of demonstrating a high sense of duty", which it said enabled him to achieve a lot, in terms of the district's development. "As a District Chief Executive you were non partisan and highly impartial in the distribution of resources and initiated a number of projects and saw to their completion before leaving the district", the citation added.

It said the assembly therefore deemed it fit and prudent to honour "such a rare, noble and exemplary indigene of the district who is a role model for the present and future generations". In an address, Nana Arthur tasked all stakeholders in the region to help develop "heritage tourism" for the accelerated development of the region.

He said if well harnessed, tourism could generate a lot of income, particularly for the district, and called on the members of the assembly to be more committed and help the youth in the area to face the challenges ahead of them. Nana Arthur thanked the assembly members for their cooperation and commitment, which enabled him to give of his best during his tenure as the chief executive. Two other members of staff of the assembly, Mr. Justice Amoah and Mr. Hope Tamakloe, who have been transferred to Cape Coast and Assin Fosu respectively, were also honoured. Dec, 30, 05
