Mampong (Ash), May 19, GNA - The Sekyere West District Assembly (SWDA) on Tuesday set up a three-member committee to investigate the impasse between students of the Asante-Mampong Technical Teachers College (MTTC) and the school authorities over feeding.

The committee, which has one week to submit its findings, has Mr Martin Owusu-Mensah, District Director of Education as its chairman. It will among other issues, hear the complaint of the students and also listen to the views of the school authorities and make recommendations for the amicable settlement of the impasse.

Students of the college on Friday, May 14, refused to take their supper and the next day's breakfast in protest against what they said was the poor quality of meals served them.

They claimed that in spite of the poor quality of meals, the college authorities were deducting money illegally from their feeding allowance even though to the best of their knowledge government had not started implementing the increase in feeding allowance.

It took the combined efforts of the district assembly and the Principal of the Saint Monica's Training College to persuade the students to rescind their decision and to take their supper and lunch on Saturday.
