Bole (N/R), Sept 9, GNA - The Bole District Assembly is rehabilitating and furnishing two senior staff bungalows at a cost of 138 million cedis to house doctors who will accept postings to the district.
Mr Sam Akati Mahama, the District Chief Executive, said the assembly's initiative is in support of the government's efforts to make health care delivery accessible to the rural communities.
Mr Mahama said this when he addressed members of Barikumu Youth Development Association at Bole after he had joined them to undertake a three-hour clean up of the Bole Hospital.
He appealed to doctors to continue to sacrifice by accepting transfers to the rural and deprived areas.
The DCE commended the association on its public spiritedness and urged other such groups and individuals to emulate the association by assisting to maintain a clean environment in the district.
Mr Frederick Anaba, Medical Assistant at the Hospital, thanked the association and said the exercise saved the health facility some expenses in hiring labour to carry out the clean up.
The Medical Assistant requested for the establishment of a blood bank at the hospital for emergency cases.
The Secretary of the association, Mr Seidu Issifu, said his organization aimed at fostering the spirit of self-help and unity among its members.
The association, he said, is also helping in awareness creation about the dangers of HIV/AIDS and other sexually-transmitted infections in an effort to reduce their spread in the district.
On behalf of the association Mr Issifu presented two crates of eggs to the hospital. 09 Sept. 03
