The Bosomtwe District Assembly has made available GH¢60,000.00 in support of efforts aimed at helping people with disability in the area to become economically self-dependent.

In all, 80 individuals, disabled training centres and cooperatives under the Ghana Federation of the Physically Challenged benefitted from the package.

They were presented with cash ranging from GH¢200.00 to GH¢1,600.00 to pursue education careers, learn vocations and set up their own businesses.

The training centres and cooperatives, on the other hand, received between GH¢2,000.00 and GH¢6,000.00 to enhance their activities.

Mr Edward Nti-Berko, the District Chief Executive (DCE), assured them of prompt release of their share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

He urged the beneficiaries to put the money into good use to make their situation better saying the unhealthy sight of some of them standing at traffic intersections and begging for alms must end.

Madam Ruth Akua Aguure, the branch President of the Federation, said they were grateful to the Assembly and pledged to ensure judicious use of the funds by the members.
