Assemblyman asks people to honour tax obligations

Sikaa(B/A), March 22, GNA - Mr Kwaku Baffoe-Adamu, Assemblyman for Sikaa in Nkoranza District has asked the people to honour their tax obligations to enable the District Assembly generate revenue to undertake development projects in the communities.

Mr Baffoe-Adamu in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Sikaa said; a major problem facing the assembly was low revenue mobilization. He expressed concern about the inability of the assembly to realise its estimated revenue for last year and collected only 69 per cent of the estimated revenue.

"Unless the people honour their tax obligations, the assembly will find it difficult to develop the communities with its share of the Assembly's Common Fund," He added.

Mr Baffoe-Adamu appealed to unit committees to assist revenue collectors to ensure that the people honoured their tax obligations. He urged parents to take advantage of the Government's Capitation grant and enrol their children in school.

Mr Baffoe-Adamu advised the youth to co-operate with their parents and teachers and work hard to become good citizens in future.
