Assemblyman donates land to Police Service

OYARIFA, (GAR) Mar. 28, GNA - The Assemblyman for Oyarifa/Teyeman, Nii Mensah Okpoti Kodia on Sunday donated 10 plots of land valued at three hundred and fifteen million Cedis to the Command of the Madina District Police Headquarters.

The presentation was made through, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), District Commander, Mr. Kwabena Antwi-Boasiako at a ceremony attended by the MP for the newly created Madina/Abokobi Constituency Alhaji Amadu Sorogo, the La Wulomo, Osu Wulomo, Teshie Wulomo and the residents of Oyarifa and Teyeman.

During the presentation, Nii Mensah Okpoti Kodia, who is also the traditional chief of Oyarifa said he donated the ten plots to alleviate the hardship being experienced by the Ghana Police in getting accommodation for its service personnel.

He said, if the Police administration were able to construct buildings on the donated plots for its personnel, it would help reduce the spate of armed robbery in their vicinity.

DSP Antwi-Boasiako said he was grateful and thankful to the people of Oyarifa and Teyeman and added that the plots of land would be judiciously used to help with the accommodation problems being faced by the Ghana Police.

Mr. Antwi-Bosiako appealed to other corporate bodies and philanthropists to also assist the Madina Police to construct buildings on the donated plots.

Nii Okpoti Kodia, in an interview with GNA said he has promised to release plots of land to the Ghana Law School for expansion in the Oyarifa area.

He expressed concern that the Ghana Law School has been occupying a small area with large number of students and therefore, was ready to give them plots of land for expansion to befit the status of the school.
