Assemblyman supports community with books and two motorcycles

The Assemblyman for the Namolo Electoral Area in the Kasena-Nankana Municipal Assembly of the Upper East Region, Mensah Kofi Anthony, has presented over 1,000 exercise books to the elders of the area for onward distribution to needy school children.

The kind gesture is his addition to efforts of parents in ensuring their children get the necessary educational materials to stay in school.

The assemblyman also presented two brand new motorcycles to the community to serve as means of transport for the elders and for transporting sick people to health facilities in times of emergency.

Presenting the items to the community on Monday at the forecourt of the Namolo landlord’s residence, the Assemblyman, who doubles as the Navrongo Central Constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman, said he presented the exercise books to assist parents give their children quality education.

He stressed on the importance of education in the development of the community’s human resource capital and urged parents and guardians to give their all to help children have good education to secure their future.

Mr. Mensah encouraged community members to pay special attention to the educational needs of their children and to identify pupils who are needy and support them with the books to ease the financial burden on parents.

He assured the community of his continuous support for the growth of education in the area, adding that all concerns that have to do with education will be addressed as long as there is life and the people give him their mandate.

The Assemblyman used the opportunity to declare his interest to contest in the assembly elections and asked the community elders and people to overwhelmingly give him their support when the time comes.

“the exercise books distribution is to aid the citizens of Namolo to assist their children have quality education. Education is very important for the development of the community and seeing its importance, I have tasked myself to provide these books for the school children especially, the needy ones This contribution will go a long way to ease the burden on parents.

I have also presented to them two new motorcycles to provide transportation for the elders and I am sure it will also greatly help in serving the people when they are sick and want to go to the hospital for healthcare in emergency cases”.

Jonathan Baloba, an appointed member of the assembly, highlighted the numerous achievements the community has seen under the leadership of the Assemblyman. He urged the community to maintain him if they truly want an able person to successfully steer the community onto the path of development and transformation.

He said he would at all times support and remind the Assemblyman on his promises so that he can deliver to the people.

“and to add to what you have all said, I want to assure that I will always support and remind your son (Assemblyman) that he has people who believed in him and gave him their power. I will remind him to work hard to give you all the promises he made to you. He is a hardworking assemblyman and I know he can do it. His good works are there to see”. He stressed.

Piose Talua, the Tiga Tu (Landlord) expressed his appreciation to the Assemblyman for the presentation.

He was happy in the good the items will bring to the community’s people, especially the two motorcycles.

He said the community elders, with the assistance of the motorcycles, can now go for important ventures that are in the interest of the people without stress and delay.

The Tiga Tu continued that the motorcycles will also greatly help in commuting sick people to the hospital in the event of emergency and critical situations.

He promised to pay special attention to the maintenance of the motorcycles and to also ensure that the exercise books are fairly distributed to all needy school children in the community.
