Assemblywoman appeals to government to give Ekwamase electricity

Ekwamase, Jan. 7, GNA - The assemblywoman for the Ekwamase electoral area of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District, Miss Eva Afful has appealed to the government to connect the area to the national electricity grid to facilitate economic activities there. He said though the people were hard working, the lack of electricity and adequate infrastructure had marred the development of the area.

Miss Afful was speaking at a party she organised for over 100 opinion leaders and members of unit committees in the area. The occasion was also used as a platform for taking stock of the achievements and failures the 14 communities of the electoral area. Miss Afful said projects executed in the area included the rehabilitation of roads, construction of school buildings and the provision of a machine for gari-processing.

She expressed gratitude to the Central Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze who is also the Member of Parliament for the area and the District Chief Executive, Mr Kenneth K. Bempong for their contributions to the development of the people.

She advised members of the unit committees to organise their people to grow more cassava to feed the gari processing machine. Nana Nketia Afful, the Abontsidomhene of Abeadze Traditional area, appealed to the communities to ensure peace during this year's general election.

He urged them to vote for a candidate who could promote the development of the area in the election.

Nana Afful who is also a member of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly cautioned the people against sexual promiscuity to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.
