Assin South DCE receives high marks

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North, Derrick Ambrose Owusu, has received high marks for the good job he is doing to bring development to communities in the area.

The people cited improvement of roads running across the district and said this was helping to open up the area for rapid socio-economic progress.

Mr. Kwaku Owusu, an assembly member, said the performance of the DCE so far had been impressive and pledged to give him their total support.

This was at a public forum held at Kwataa to discuss ways of uniting the people behind the assembly’s development agenda.

Assin South, the largest district in the Central Region by area, is largely rural with the population predominantly into the cultivation of cocoa, oil palm, rubber and vegetables.

It covers a total land area of about 1,187 square kilometres, roughly 12 per cent of the total land area of the region, and shares political and administrative boundaries with the Assin Central, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Mfantseman, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Ajumako-Enyan-Assiam, and Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira.

The construction of roads to link the various farming communities to market centres is dear to the people and seen as vital to efforts at attracting agricultural investments.

The assembly member said he and his colleague in the assembly would continue to cooperate with and give strong backing to the DCE to move the district forward.

His open-door policy had created space for everybody to contribute their quota to efforts at fighting poverty.

The DCE said he was humbled the commendation and thanked the assembly, the chiefs and people, for the support.

He asked that they all accepted to put the common good ahead of any other consideration and pulled together to make things happen.

He promised to remain transparent and accountable in the performance of his duties.

He would also be fair to everybody – make sure that all benefitted from interventions and programmes meant to transform the living conditions of the people.
