Asarekrom (B/A), May 18, GNA - A number of feeder roads in the Asunafo District of Brong Ahafo are to be rehabilitated under the National Feeder Roads Rehabilitation Programme, to facilitate the movement of goods and services to the market centres. Mr. G.W. Amponsah, MP for Asunafo South, who announced this at separate functions at Asarekrom and Dodowa in the district said the programme was at the instance of the World Bank and the government. He emphasised that the government would not renege on its campaign promises, which included rehabilitating all access roads to make them motorable.

The MP urged communities to maintain their communal spirit and should be wary of self-seeking politicians who would bombard them with half-truths and mouth-watering promises during the electioneering campaigns in order to win their votes.

Mr. Amponsah, who is gunning for the NPP primaries in the constituency later told the Ghana News Agency he was confident he would be retained at both the primaries and the general election in December. The chiefs and people of the two communities acknowledged the "significant" changes that the NPP government had brought into their lives, citing the revamping of the cocoa industry, and pledged to reciprocate the gesture at the polls. 18 May 04
