The Asutifi District Assembly in Brong Ahafo is spending 5.6 billion cedis on 33 projects in 25 towns and villages.
Funds for the projects, which include the construction of classroom blocks, teachers' bungalows, area council offices and the provision of electricity and boreholes, are provided under the District Assembly Common Fund, Ghana Education Trust Fund (GetFund), HIPC Fund and Social Investment Fund (SIF).
Twenty-five out of the 33 projects are ongoing, while the remaining ones are either at the lintel level or the roofing stage.
This is contained in a list of developmental projects made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday by Mr Michael Nsiah-Agyapong, District Chief Executive (DCE), during a two-day tour of the district by Nana Kwadwo Seinti, the Regional Minister.
Nana Seinti inspected projects cited at the various communities and appealed to the chiefs and people to register their families as members of the Asutifi District Health Insurance Scheme.
At Hwidiem, the Regional Minister commended the Chiefs and people for their encouraging patronage of the Health Scheme.
He said the District Assembly had received 1.6 billion cedis to develop and upgrade Hwidiem Senior Secondary School (SSS) into a model secondary school.
Mr Nsiah-Agyapong said numerous education and other development projects the district assembly was undertaking attested to the government's electoral promise of making life better for the people in the rural areas.
He called for the co-operation among the assembly, chiefs and opinion leaders in order to bring development to the communities.
There was the general outcry for the provision of electricity, good drinking water, good roads and job creation by the people in all the communities where the Regional Minister visited.
