Nkawie (Ash), Feb 6, GNA- The Atwima District Education Directorate has committed itself to building a systematic approach to assisting communities to play meaningful role to enforce standards, develop and maintain infrastructure and create partnership between education stakeholders and donor agencies.

Mr Eddy Obeng-Darko, Atwima District Director of Education, who said this at this year's Atwima District Education Directorate maiden management meeting to review its performances at Nkawie on Thursday, was confident that the approach would bring about the needed positive changes in the district's education delivery.

He charged the management staff to strengthen and intensify its supervision and management responsibilities, organise frequent refresher courses for the teachers and encourage and support rejuvenated School Management Committees (SMCs) to effectively promote community participation and mobilisation in education delivery.

Mr Obeng-Darko, who is the National President of Conference of District Directors of Education (CODDE), said education as a social enterprise, demands efforts and contributions from all stakeholders since the government could not afford to finance it single-handedly. He acknowledged the immense support, assistance and contributions from some foreign donor agencies and local institutions and organisations including the Atwima District Assembly, Nkawie and Toase sub-traditional councils, the two Members of Parliament (MPs) and the Nwabiagya, Atwima-Mponua and Amanano Rural Banks to enhance quality education delivery in the district.

The Assembly, Mr Obeng-Darko said is not only sponsoring over 300 teacher trainees in various colleges throughout the country and also recruited quite a number of untrained teachers to fill various vacancies, but has also provided accommodation and other essential infrastructure facilities for teachers,

On behalf of the management, Mr Baffour As are-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education, thanked the District Director for his wise counselling and pledged to work hard to raise the district's image.
