Madam Elisabeth Aquia Cewenka has been enstooled Nkosuohemaa (Development Chief) of Akyeme Ntronang in the Brim North District of the Eastern Region.

The Austrian philanthropist financed the construction of the Junior High School (JHS) school building for the Akyem Ntronang Presby Basic School.

The GH¢58,000 JHS block consists of 3 classrooms, a staff common room, an office, and a library.

This gesture by Madam Elisabeth Aquia has relieved the students from the trouble they encounter in the old bamboo structure previously being used for classes which easily gives way whenever it rained.

The Headmaster of the Akyem Ntronang Presby Basic School, Mr. Emmanuel Kwabena, appealed to the government, philanthropists and individuals to emulate Madam Cewenka's example, since the school was in dire need of other facilities

Mavis Frimpomaa said was thankful for the project, saying that education was a tool of unity and progress.

She drew attention to the fact that the government must not be the only dependable source for good educational facilities.

Even though the school recorded 100% three years ago, followed by 89% and 51% respectively in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the district Director of Education, Mr Eric Atakora, expressed regret at the consistent decline in results, blaming it on the inability of the student to read properly.

He called on teachers to inculcate the habit of reading in the students, stressing that teachers and students must put a stop to the habit of lateness.

The District Education Office pledged to provide one poly tank, and 50 mono and 150 dual desks for the school.

Madam Elisabeth Equia Cewenka revealed that she organised entertainment concerts at Austria to support this cause.

She extended blessings to all the donors at Austria for their support.

The students received school uniforms, books, and other educational materials.

The ceremony, which took place on the Presbyterian Basic School compound, had in attendance the Ntronanghene, Nana Asiedu Akora II, the Queenmother, Nana Nyama Kyrewa II, the Brim North District Chief Executive, Mavis Frimpomaa, the District Director of Education, Mr Eric Atakorah, the representative of the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area and other important dignitaries

The ceremony was commemorated with a float through the Ntronang Township, following a choreography cultural display, poetry recital, and a drama that preached against chieftaincy disputes.

The Ntronanghene, Nana Asiedu Akora II, performed the en-stoolmet ceremony, with the Queenmother, Nana Nyama Kyrewa, giving Madam Aquia her blessings .

The Ntronang Presby Basic School was started in 1981, with the current student population standing at 629, and 15 teachers.
