Avatime citizens in UK donate medical items to clinics in their community

A union of Avatime citizens domicile at UK has donated medical items worth more than Twenty Ghana Cedis (GHC20,000.00) to four clinics located at their native community in the Ho-West District of the Volta Region.

The items, comprising four boxes of Sterilizer Autoclave, four boxes BP Apparatus, four boxes of Digital Baby Scales, two boxes of Glucometer, Fetal Doppler, four Thermometer Guns and some other health protective equipments were intended to contributing towards promoting health delivery and health needs in Avatime communities.

The beneficiary health institutions included clinics located at Amedzofe, Vane, Fume and Gbadzeme, all Avatime communities.

Speaking on behalf of the UK Avatime Union during a presentation ceremony held at the Ho-West District Health Directorate at Dzolo Kpuita, Mr. Sammy Aboni noted that the donation forms part of a social intervention initiative to raise the standard of health delivery in the local communities.

He said the Union has expressed grave concern about the deteriorating state of health facilities and lack of some items required for effective health delivery in the local communities, hence its desire to contribute towards effecting the needed change.

Receiving the items on behalf of the four beneficiary clinics, the Ho-West District Director of Health Services, Ms. Edith Ekpor expressed gratitude to the donors, noting, that the donation of the medical items were timely considering the limited resources and increasing health needs confronting many health institutions in the District following upsurge in diseases such as malaria, hypertension and the spread of COVID-19.

She appealed to philanthropists and relevant state institutions to as a matter of urgency to intervene in alleviating the plight of health workers and citizens of various local communities.

The Overlord and Paramount Chief of Avatime, Osie Adza Tekpor VII, described the initiative by the Avatime Union in U.K as laudable.
