The Awutu/Senya District Assembly has assured parents in the area that it would continue to introduce social intervention programmes that would make education of their children more cost-effective.
As part of the initiative, the Assembly has directed heads of schools and teachers in the area not to charge any fee for extra classes they would organise to finish their syllabuses.
The Assembly said it would not hesitate to sanction any school or teacher who would sack any child from school for failing to pay any fee in respect of extra classes.
Mr Sampson Abbey Armah, Awutu/Senya District Chief Executive, said this at a forum with the people.
Mr Armah said to ensure adequate improvement in education at all levels the Assembly would continue to support mock examinations aimed at adequately preparing students for their final Basic Education Certificate Examination this and the coming years.
He said the Assembly under the current administration would organise awards for teachers and students before the end of the 2015 academic year and appealed to teachers and students in the district to work hard.
Mr Armah praised the Member of Parliament for the area for sponsoring free long vacation classes for about 900 junior high school students in Forms Two and Three in and around Awutu-Bawjiase during the 2013-2014 academic years.
He said the MP has promised to repeat the offer this year, and assured that this time round the offer would cover all educational circuits in the District saying and added that the District Director of Education f had been tasked to submit a budget for the exercise to the District Assembly.
