Awutu D/A JHS upgraded

Madam Sun Baohong, Chinese Ambassador in Ghana, on Friday broke the ground for construction work to begin on a new three-storey expansion project to upgrade the Awutu /Senya West District Assembly Junior High School (JHS) at Awutu-Beraku.

The multi-million Ghana-cedi project is being funded by the Chinese Government, and will be completed in three months, Madam Sun Baohong, further announced.

The project will consist of six unit classrooms, one headmaster’s office, a teachers ‘office, a library, one ICT laboratory, and one public toilet house.

An old block in the school would be renovated and converted into a dining hall, a kitchen, and a store for the school.

Mad Baohong praised Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister and MP for Awutu/Senya West, Madam Hannah Serwaa Tetteh, for her credible performance which led to the provision of the projet from the Chinese Government.

She described Madam Tetteh as someone who had committed herself to the total improvement of education in her constituency, and said that was why the Chinese Embassy in Ghana had decided to offer her all the necessary support to realize her dreams.

Madam Baohong expressed the hope that students of the school would take advantage of the project to study hard to acquire knowledge.

The Ambassador was happy that the ground-breaking ceremony took place at a time China and Ghana were celebration the 55th anniversary of the establishment of China-Ghana bilateral relations.

Madam Tetteh on behalf of the chiefs and people in the Awutu Traditional Area, and the Awutu/Senya West District Assembly, expressed her deepest appreciation to the Chinese Government and the Ambassador in particular, for the offer, and assured them of effective maintenance of the project when completed.

Madam Tetteh called for maximum co-operation from the chiefs and people in the traditional area, especially the inhabitants of the Awutu township, to ensure the speedy and efficient execution of the project.
