Awutu District Assembly asks to convert Winneba boatyard into schools

Senya Beraku (C/R) March 1 GNA- The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mr Richmond Mensah on Tuesday appealed to the District Assembly to convert the abandoned boatyard at Winneba into schools. Mr Mensah who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Senya Beraku, said this would help reduce the number of children of school going age, who are out of school. He said a similar project at Mumford, a fishing community near Apam have yielded positive results.

Mr Mensah who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Senya Beraku, said this would help reduce the number of children of school going age, who are out of school. He said a similar project at Mumford, a fishing community near Apam have yielded positive results. Mr Mensah observed that due to the lack of educational facilities in coastal towns Winneba, Fetteh and Senya Beraku, a number of children are found idling during school hours. The CHRAJ Director said that his outfit had been able to bring back home, children who travelled to Yeji to engaged in child labour.
