Roads and a car park in the Awutu township, are to be sealed at a total cost of 254,494.76 Ghana Cedis, as part of the face-lift programme initiated by the Government for the traditional capital.
Madam Hannah Serwaah Tetteh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Member of Parliament (mp for Awutu Senya West, disclosed this at Awutu when she officially cut the tape for work to begin on the two projects at a ceremony at Awutu-Beraku.
Mad Tetteh stressed the need for chiefs in the traditional area to show appreciation to the government for a number of development projects it had provided in the area since it took over the administration of the country 11 years ago.
The MP mentioned Primary, Junior and Senior High School blocks, the expansion of health facilities in the Awutu/Senya District, Roads, and Electricity, as some of the development projects the NDC Government had implemented for people in the traditional area.
She said that “it is only fair and acceptable that when someone does good things to raise the standard of living of a group of people or the entire community, it is proper that such a person or the Government to be commended so that it would spur him up to render more excellent service for you,” Mad. Serwaah Tetteh added.
Mad. Serwaah Tetteh told members of the Awutu Traditional Council that the NDC Government was poised to provide the district with more development projects to better their living standards, and asked the people to rally firmly behind the government to ensure the speedy realization of this objective.
She announced that very soon construction work on a first class road like the Mallam/Kasoa road to link Adeiso-Agona-Swedru-Mankessim would commence.
The Foreign Minister said when the project took off, it would provide jobs for people living in the communities lying alongside the road, and called for co-operation from the chiefs and people, to ensure the orderly and smooth execution of the project.
In a reply to a request made by Abokuadi Whettey Agyenman Larbie, Omanhene of the Awutu Traditional Area, Mad. Serwaah Tetteh said that it was not proper for her to involve herself in any chieftaincy litigations in the area.
She advised chiefs in the traditional area to try and find suitable ways of resolving such challenges amicably.
Mad. Serwaah Tetteh assured Nananom that their request for office equipment to run the Traditional Council Offices at Awutu as well as the means of transport for the Council would be given serious consideration.
Abokuadi Larbie, appealed to the Government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), Individuals, and well organized groups, to provide the Traditional Council with a bus.
On behalf of the Awutu Traditional Council and the entire Awutu state, Abokuadi Larbie extend his deepest gratitude to the NDC Government for all the development projects it had implemented and the new ones initiated for both the Awutu and Senya Beraku Traditional Areas to better the lot of the people.
He pledged that members of the Traditional Council would support the Government to execute all the development projects it had initiated for the area.
