Ghana Library Board is to deliver books to pupils at Nzema-East Municipality in the Western Region, at their doorsteps.

The novelty programme is aimed at reinvigorating the culture of reading, and improve on language, stock of vocabulary and broaden the horizon of the pupils.

Madam Mercy Ackah, Municipal Library Officer, made this known in an interview at Axim, when she conducted the Ghana News Agency around a public library project.

She said public patronage of the library for the past three years had been poor especially by school children.

Madam Ackah said the through the programme the pupils now read books at their own leisure.

She said she had introduced another programme dubbed: "Story Time” when she reads to the pupils and elicit responses to questions from the story.

This, according to Madam Ackah, has brought significant improvement in the learning behaviour of the children.

She appealed to teachers to inculcate the habit of reading into children, to become fully baked scholars to advance the socio-economic development of the nation.
