Sunyani, July 25, GNA - Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, has said road and building contractors who did shoddy work or delayed projects risked losing jobs they are executing and future contracts in the region. He said the termination of such contracts was necessary because such delays impeded the government's aim of accelerating development in the region.
Speaking at a meeting with road and building contractors in the region on Monday, the Regional Minister attributed the region's meagre road fund allocation to setbacks such as delays in the execution of projects and shoddy works. Mr Baffour-Awuah reminded the contractors of their role in the socio-economic development of the nation and urged them to widen their scope of operations by bidding for national projects.
He commended them for the services they were rendering for the development of the region and appealed to them to be honest in their dealings with the banks to avoid the denial of loans. Some of the contractors expressed concern about the award of contracts to contractors outside the region and the minister promised to address it.
