Himan (W/R), Feb. 26, GNA - Bogoso Gold Limited (BGL) has spent =A2410million in its quest to supply potable water to its catchment's communities.

The beneficiary communities are Himan and Ankobra, near Prestea. Two boreholes have been sunk in these communities and have been installed with machines to pump the water into four overhead tanks of 10,000 gallons capacity each.

Through standing pipes, the water is then distributed in the communities.

Nana Richard Hagan, manager, community affairs and sustainable development, said these when he inspected the projects at Himan and Ankobra yesterday.

He said within one year, a number of projects have been carried out in the area and therefore pleaded with the communities to give the Mine peace to work to bring along more projects. Nana Hagan said provision of potable water was provision of life, because water is life, adding, the Mine also expects the communities to give it life by ensuring co-existence between the Mine and the communities.

He said potable water supply would help stem the spread of water borne diseases.

Mr Samuel Owoo Duncan, Assemblyman for Ankobra Electoral Area, on behalf of the communities thanked BGL for the project. He mentioned construction of culvert, building of market and tarring of Ankobra road as some of the projects BGL has done in the area.
