Amidst the jubilant atmosphere of Kumasi Technical University's (KsTU) 23rd congregation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year, Baidoo Japhet was declared the valedictorian, the institution's best graduating student.

Addressing fellow graduands, faculty, and dignitaries, Japhet delivered a moving speech that traced his miraculous academic journey from basic school to international exchange, ushering him into his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering.

Opening his address, Japhet reflected on his evolving understanding of success.

"If you had asked me a few years ago what it takes to pass an exam, I would have confidently said: work hard, stay focused, avoid distractions, simple. But if you ask me that same question today, my answer would be quite different."

Japhet's educational path began at Ahinkofi Primary School, continued through Ketan M/A Junior High School, and led him to Sekondi College for his secondary education before he joined Kumasi Technical University.

He described his initial days on campus as a "strange blend of confusion, excitement, and wonder," grappling with an unfamiliar environment, expectations, and culture.

A pivotal moment in his journey was his selection for an academic and cultural exchange program in China, facilitated by KsTU's international partnerships.

He shared the daunting challenge of securing his flight ticket, an obstacle that nearly derailed the life-changing opportunity. "But I thank God for the family He blessed me with, especially my parents, who rallied together and supported me until the dream became reality," he stated.

As an international student, Japhet recounted daily lessons in resilience, navigating a new climate, adapting to a new language, adjusting to unfamiliar teaching styles, and embracing an entirely different cultural setting.

These experiences, he noted, strengthened his adaptability, broadened his global perspective, and increased his confidence to thrive in diverse environments.

"The technical knowledge I gained, coupled with the cultural exposure, has equipped me with a solid foundation for the journey ahead," he affirmed, expressing deep gratitude to KsTU for such transformative opportunities.

Japhet extended heartfelt thanks to his lecturers and mentors for their unwavering dedication, guidance, and inspiration both inside and outside the classroom.

"You did not only teach; you inspired. Your dedication has shaped our character, instilled our values, and prepared us for life beyond the university. We are forever grateful."

His profound appreciation was particularly directed at his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Baidoo.

"I owe you more than words can express. Your strength, courage, and unwavering determination continue to inspire me. Today is as much your victory as it is mine. You sacrificed, encouraged, reassured, and ensured that I never missed an opportunity. Your love opened the doors that led me here. God richly bless you. I love you so much," he stated.

Mr Baidoo graduated in First Class honors with a CGPA of 4.73; an outstanding performance that shook the university and all dignitaries present.
