Kumasi, Nov. 7, GNA - The Kejetia branch of the Barclays Bank on Saturday donated food and other items worth 15 million cedis to the Maternal and Child Hospital (children's hospital) in Kumasi. The items included bags of rice, cartons of milk and fruit drinks, biscuits, assorted soaps, toilet rolls and cleaning equipment. The staff of the bank also undertook a clean-up exercise at the hospital and painted portions of the hospital.

Speaking at the ceremony Mr Ebenezer Adjei, the Retail Manager of the Kejetia branch of the bank, said the gesture was part of the annual "Make a Difference in a Community" activity of the bank. This is the policy of the bank to use one percent of its profit to service communities in which they operate.

He said the health of children and women were very important and there was the need for assistance to improve conditions at the hospital and pledged the continued support of the bank.

Mrs Anna Adomako, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the hospital who received the items, thanked the bank and appealed to other public-spirited organisations to follow the example of the bank.
