The Omanhene of Kumawu Traditional area, Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua has given legs to his Health regeneration initiative to ensure quality healthcare delivery in the area.
He has presented anesthetic equipment to the Kumawu Poly Clinic for its newly established theatre.
Making the presentation on Monday on behalf of the Queen mother, Nana Serwah Amponsah and the Kumawu Traditional Council, the chief noted that equipment is expected to enhance operations of the Health Centre which was upgraded to Poly Clinic status three months ago.
Barima Tweneboa Kodua, said the equipment would help with major surgical operations at the expanded health facility.
The chief said the donation is to complement efforts by the District directorate of the Ghana Health Service, management and staff of the facility to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
Barima Tweneboa Kodua advised the management of the Kumawu Poly Clinic to adopt planned Preventive maintenance to ensure a longer lifespan of the machine for the benefit of the people.
He promised to avail his service and expertise as a medical officer to the facility whenever the need arises.
The District Director of Health, Mr. Justice Thomas Sevugu, on behalf of the Ghana Health Service and management of the facility thanked the Kumawu Traditional Council for the equipment.
The Health Director noted that Barima Kodua's selfless support to the facility has led to its recent upgrading to Poly Clinic status.
He commended the Omanhene for previously supplying the facility with a theatre lamp and bed for which support, he said, his outfit is negotiating with the Health authorities to name the theatre after Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua.
Dr. Seth Agyemang, the Medical Officer in charge of the Kumawu Poly Clinic indicated that the newly acquired anaesthetic equipment would enable the facility undertake 70% of general anaesthesia and advanced abdominal cases.
According to Dr. Agyemang , in-patients have increased from 15 to 30 per day since the facility was upgraded three months ago with the Out-patient department now recording 60 attendants per day against 25 previously.
He said the facility, has 90 members of staff including Midwives, a theatre Nurse, a resident doctor and a Pharmacist to deliver on its mandate as a poly clinic.
