Bawjiase (C/R), Sept. 6, GNA 96 The Bawjiase Area Rural Bank in the Central Region has supported four schools in its catchments area with building materials worth over 14 million cedis.

Kasoa Presbyterian Junior Secondary School, Bawjiase Methodist JSS and Bawjiase Anglican JSS received roofing sheets and nails, while Adeiso Presbyterian Senior Secondary School got 50 bags of cement. At a presentation ceremony at the bank premises at Bawjiase, Mr Augustus Yankey, Manager, said the donation was part of the Bank's social responsibility to promote education in its catchment area. Mr Oppey Abbey, Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya and a Director of the Bank who presented the items to the beneficiary schools noted that good education was the bedrock of development and pledged to support brilliant but needy students.

The MP advised school heads in the area to organise regular quiz competitions for students to widen their scope of knowledge. Madam Margaret Tettey, Headmistress of Bawjiase Anglican Junior Secondary School, on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Bank for the gesture.

Madam Tettey appealed to other organisations and companies in the area to emulate the Bank's gesture, since schools in the area were faced with numerous problems, which the government alone could not shoulder.
