Bawjiase, March 15, GNA - The District Chief Executive for the newly created Awutu-Senya District, Mr Solomon Abbam Quaye, has urged Ghanaians to provide information on their dead relatives since the last general election to the officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) for deletion.
Mr Abbam Quaye said the EC alone could not produce a credible voter's register if the people did not assist. The DCE made the call at an open-day organized by Bawjiase St. Andrew Anglican Junior High School at Bawjiase on Thursday. He appealed to the youth who had now attained the age of 18 years and above to register when the register is reopened and those who misplaced their cards to go for a replacement.
The DCE announced that computer centres were being created at cluster of schools to enhance teaching and learning of Information, Communication Technology which had been made a compulsory subject under the education reform programme.
Mr Abbam Quaye admonished Ghanaians to protect water bodies that serve as sources of potable water for the nation. Nai Kwao Otuo IV, Chief of Awutu Mankessim and Ankobeahene of Awutu Traditional Area, called on parents to invest in their children's education, adding that education was the only means to secure a better future.
Madam Margaret Tettey, Headmistress of the school, appealed to the new district assembly to complete a second stream for the school with additional furniture.
She said the school had no place of convenience. Madam Tettey said the school needed computers to enhance teaching of ICT, as well as equipment for the home science and sports departments.
