Awutu Obrachire, (C/R), June 13, GNA - The Bawjiase Area Rural Bank, at Awutu Bawjiase, has presented five packets of aluminium roofing sheets valued at GHC1,600 to the Awutu Obrachire Senior High School (SHS) as its contribution towards the promotion of education.
Mr Emmanuel Osei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, who made the presentation, said the donation would help the school to prepare structures to admit more students in next academic year. He said the presentation formed part of the efforts of the bank to support second cycle education so that more students from the area would be able to attain tertiary education for human resource development. Mr Osei cautioned the students to desist from acts of indiscipline and unnecessary demonstrations which could undermine their academic excellence. The Board Chairman announced that the construction of the head office block at Awutu Bawjiase was progressing steadily and assured the shareholders and the staff at Bawjiase that the project would be ready for use by the end of August.
Mr James Cudjoe Agornyrah, Acting General Manager of the Bank, said the empowerment of over 25,000 women through microfinance that had been planned by the bank would continue to help reduce their poverty levels. He said the beneficiary women groups from Awutu Bawjiase, Adeiso, Asamankese and Kasoa were those on their priority list and appealed to other women to form groups to enable them to benefit from the scheme. The Reverend Dr Helena Hope Araba Grahi, headmistress of the school, who received the items, thanked the bank for its gesture and appealed to other financial institutions and corporate bodies to go to the aid of the school. She said the school, being one of the community schools, was facing infrastructural problems, which could affect teaching and learning, adding that the situation could affect its intake in the next academic year. 13 June 10
