Bawku (UE), March 30, GNA - The Bawku Municipal Security Council (BMUSEC) has banned the T-shirts, apparels and paraphernalia that had the names of= former chiefs of Bawku printed on them for the Damba festival celebration. This was contained in a statement signed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Musah Abudulai, who is also the Chairman of the BMUSEC. It said inscriptions on the T- Shirts, apparels and other paraphernali= a distributed and worn in Bawku and other parts of the country had been a source of conflict and should not be encouraged to develop into something more serious. The statement therefore warned people in the area and outside the town= who were having the items to stop wearing them for the sake of peace.
"The law enforcement agencies would not countenance any acts aimed at derailing
the peace process and anybody caught in violating this would be dealt wit= h
drastically", it said. The statement also asked that henceforth any samples of inscriptions o= n T-shirts,
apparels and paraphernalia meant for any intended festivities must be submitted to
the BMUSEC for vetting. It appealed to the people to cooperate with the law enforcement agenci= es to deal
with the situation and to bring peace to Bawku.
