Mr Mark Dompreh Amoako, the Municipal Chief Executive of Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality, has asked pupils to be punctual at school and be obedient to teachers and the elderly.

He said such positive acts would make them capable of confronting future challenges.

Mr Amoako gave the advice when he addressed workers, students, chiefs, assembly members and opinion leaders at the 58th Independence Day parade at Nsawam.

The theme for this year’s celebration was: “Achieving Transformation through National Unity.”

Mr Amoako said very soon the baton of leadership would be handed over to the youth and, therefore, students must eschew alcoholism, drug abuse and premarital sex which could ruin their future.

He asked the people to collectively join the crusade to create awareness in the communities to get rid of filth of the environment.

He called on Ghanaians to sustain the monthly National Sanitation Day which was declared by President John Dramani Mahama.

Mr Amoako urged the citizenry to unite to develop the nation and not allow divisive tendencies to prevail.

He said the 58th Independence Day should be used as a period of true reflection on the achievement and challenges of the country to enable the people to co-operate peacefully to develop the nation.
