The management of the Bedeku Technical Institute (BTI) in the Ada East District, has held a community fund raising programme in aid of building more classrooms to accommodate the overcrowding student population.
The BTI, is currently having seven classrooms with a student population of 553 and still admitting more students.
The programme was organised to solicit funds from the indigenous people and donors to enable the school to complete a stalled two-storey 12 units classroom block started by the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the school.
Mr. Abdul Razack, the Chief Executive Officer of Electrochem Ghana Limited, who represented the Guest of Honour, Dr. Daniel McKorley, McDan Group Chair, presented a cheque of GHC20,000 and 100 bags of cement to the school.
Mr. Razack disclosed that Dr. Daniel Mckorley, has planned to adopt the school and asked that a copy of the budget for the completion of the school be forwarded to him to study and give assistance to the school.
Mr. Andrews Adi Alorgbey, PTA chairman, presented GHC10, 000 as its support for the project it has initiated, and appealed to all, especially those who have their wards in the school to help realise the dream of lifting the school to a higher pedestal.
Mrs. Faustina Amanorkie Okai, the headmistress of the school, expressed disappointment at the failure of most of the invitees to turn up at the event.
She added that though it was the government’s responsibility to provide classrooms, the exigency of the need has made it important for them to take an initiative, to alleviate the classroom challenges facing the school instead of folding their arms and wait on the government.
Mr. Abraham Gbagidi, the Board Chairman of the school, urged the public, and institutions to support such initiatives as it will help provide the needed quality education for students and nurture their talents to benefit the society.
