Bekwai MP supports education in constituency

Bekwai (Ash), Jan. 26, GNA - Mr Kofi Poku Adusei, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, has presented a cheque for 26 million cedis to the Amansie East District Assembly towards the improvement of education in the District.

Fifteen point two million cedis out of the money, which was part of his share of the MP's Common Fund, is to be used to assist 14 brilliant but needy students in second cycle institutions.

Out of the remaining 10.8 million cedis, six million cedis is to be used to purchase English books for the Bodoma Local Authority Primary School, three million cedis for the renovation of the girls' dormitory at Oppon Memorial Secondary School at Kokofu and 1.8 million cedis is to be used for the renovation of the Amoako Catholic Primary School. Presenting a cheque for the amount, Mr Poku Adusei advised parents to keep their eyes on their children and monitor their activities at home and in school to ensure that they did not go wayward. As future leaders, he said, the youth needed guidance to enable them achieve their objectives and goals in life and asked parents to support the education of their children.

Mrs Diana Hammond, the Amansie East District Co-ordinating Director, who received the cheque on behalf of the Assembly, expressed appreciation to the Deputy Minister and said the money would be utilized for the purpose intended.
