Jachie-Nkwanta (Ash), March 8, GNA - Mr Kwaku Kusi Ockrah, Ahafo-Ano North District Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC), has appealed to benevolent societies to give more assistance to brilliant but needy school children to enable them pursue academic careers.

He said it was about time those societies looked beyond just merely serving the welfare needs of their members and offered support to particularly promising school children from poor homes.

Mr Ockrah made the appeal during the inauguration of the 'Dabaa Odo Kuo', a benevolent society at Jachie-Nkwanta, near Tepa. He said, "let us accept to do our bit to help the socially disadvantaged realise their God-given potentials".

The NYC District Co-ordinator also spoke of the need to encourage students who are unable to make the grade for senior secondary school admission to enrol at the Youth Leadership Training Centres to learn employable skills.

Mr Emmanuel Akwasi Amponsah, the District Officer, Administration of Stool Lands called on land owners to ensure proper documentation of their lands to help bring down the incidence of land litigation in the country.

The secretary of the society, Mr Anthony Opoku Sarpeh, said their aim was to serve as a catalyst for the development of their community. 8 March 05
