Koforidua, June 30, GNA - Ms Ophelia Koomson, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, said on Wednesday that for her to succeed in her administration there would be the need for Akyem Kotoku chiefs to support her.

Ms Koomson said this when she paid courtesy calls on Nana Akua Asantewa 111, Queen Mother of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, Obrempong Afum Afronten 1V, Acting President of the traditional council and the Zongo Chief, Alhaji Sulemana Mohammed at Oda. She thanked the chiefs for the roles they played leading to her approval.

Ms Koomson said their suggestions and corrections were always welcome and pleaded with them that where they might not agree on policies of the municipality they should not hesitate to call her behind closed doors and iron out their differences.

Nana Asantewa pledged her full support to the MCE and said her doors are "open 24 hours a day for her". She told her to work extra hard to bring about a positive change in the living conditions of the people. The chiefs appealed to her to put sanitation on her priority list and to take steps to have mountains of refuse at Akyem Oda removed. They also talked about worsening condition of the Akyem Oda lorry park, the market and town roads in general and urged her to use her good office to tackle those problems.

Meanwhile Ms Koomson had interacted with market women at Akyem Oda and assured them of government's commitment to improve upon at the central market.

She however appealed to them to honour their part of the bargain by paying their daily rates to the assembly promptly for it to generate funds for development.
