Birim Municipal Assembly to provide foot bridges

Due to the water logged nature of Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern Region, the Assembly is providing a number of foot bridges to facilitate travelling and boost the socio-economic activities of the people.

Mr Kwabena Boadu, Municipal Co-ordinating Director who made this known to Ghana News Agency at Akim Asene during a public forum organised by the assembly said the beneficiary communities include Akim Oda PWD Camp, Morning Star and Zongo.

Although the cost of the project, which involves the construction of culverts, is not available, Mr Boadu indicated that it would be soon be awarded on contract.

As part of the forum a mechanised borehole valued at GH?24,000.00 was inaugurated by Nana Karikari Appau Frimpong III, Chief of Akim Asene.

Mr Kwasi Dwomoh Ahwireng, Project Co-ordinator of Dutchlink Foundation, the consultancy agency said it collaborated with MEP “J” Group with funding from CORDAID in Hague-Holland and Lifede En Aandacht for the construction of the borehole.

Mrs Ellen Nimako, Director for MEP ‘J’ Group said the main objective of the group is to extend development to rural areas.
