Akim Swedru (E/R), Aug. 29, GNA – As part of efforts to help promote the government’s “Better Ghana” agenda, the Birim South District Assembly is providing facilities to help raise the educational and living standards of the people.

Nana Baffour Mensah Takyi, District Chief Executive for Birim South, told the GNA that the District, carved out of the Birim Central Municipality would require the support of all stakeholders for the Government to fulfil its mandate.

He also called on all Ghanaians to help reverse the falling standards of education saying the problems related to the trend were not only about teachers.

He said the National Democratic Congress government was determined to reach out to all citizens and would also continue to pursue prudent policies that would benefit every community.

Nana Mensah Takyi said the District Assembly had supplied 1,000 mono and dual desks to some selected schools in the District, while it had drilled 10 boreholes at Siawkrom, Akortekrom, Asikasu, Kokobeng, Duokon, Maame Grace, Achiase Junction, Achiasehene, Apoli Nkrantum and Apoli.

Nana Mensah Takyi said through the GETFund, the Assembly had constructed a six-classroom block with ancillary facilities at Apoli Ningo and Asikasu, and also refurbished the Aperade and Akim Awisa Railway Station Markets. He said there were future plans to construct a six-unit classroom block for the Aperade Roman Catholic Primary, Achiase Nuriya Islamic, Achiase Methodist and the Local Authority Junior High School at Akenkansu.
