Mr J.H. Mensah, the Headmaster of the Bisease Senior High School (SHS), has appealed to stakeholders in education, especially parents to ensure that their final year students attend classes regularly.
This, he said, would enable them to chalk success in their final year examination.
Mr Mensah who was addressing members of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting, said absenteeism and truancy would not be tolerated and should be seen as a thing of the past and that registered students who would stay away from classes would not be allowed to write their final year examination.
He told the parents that Bisease SHS registered 330 candidates for the 2011 West Africa Senior Secondary Examination Certificate (WASSEC) and scored 100 percent adding that this record must be maintained.
He commended the PTA for assisting the school with one borehole to solve the school’s water problem and that the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly has also responded favourably to provide an additional borehole to supplement the existing one.
Mr Mensah appealed to parents to support the school in the provision of National Health Insurance Scheme ID Cards for their wards and that parents whose wards have special chronic diseases must make them known to the school authorities for them to be given special attention.
He said an association; BISECO Old Students Union had been formed and called on others far and near to register so as to provide support for the needs of the school.
He said his office is still stocked with old certificates of past students which date as far back as 1990 and called on all old students who have not collected their certificates to come for them in the soonest.
Madam Joyce Mensima Aidoo, Assistant Headmistress – Administration expressed worry about the unbecoming behaviour of some students including improper addressing, rudeness, indiscipline and insulting of elderly in society among others and called on parents to seat up to help curb the menace, adding that; “charity begins at home.”
Mr Michael Mensah, a Director at the District Education Directorate of Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam who deputised for the District Director, Mr John Harmah, commended the PTA for the construction of Administrative Block and other projects initiated by the school.
He also commended the staff and students for the result so far achieved and advised them to improve on it and come out with “quality education” adding that teachers and pupils must learn to cooperate in a humble manner devoid of open confrontation.
The PTA Chairman, John J. Amoah expressed appreciation to parents for their continued support to the needs of the school and said the ongoing two-storey Administrative Block would be completed next year to pave the way for a successful 25 years anniversary celebration of the school in 2014.**
