Bishop Fianu supports Catholic Health Facilities in Ho Diocese

Most Reverend Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, Catholic Bishop of Ho Diocese has presented Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) to five Catholic Health facilities in the Ho Diocese in the fight against COVID-19.

The donation, sponsored by the Medical Doctors Association of California, USA was made to the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital in Kpando, Anfoega Catholic Hospital, St. George’s Clinic in Liati, Mater Ecclesiae Hospital in Sokode and the St. Francis Clinic in Saviefe.

The items worth GH?46,000.00 include; gun boots, non-contact infrared thermometers, disposable aprons, hand gloves, N95 nose masks, goggles, sanitizers and examination gloves.

Bishop Fianu who made the presentation to the facilities in Kpando said since the pandemic hit the country, the Diocese had been concerned particularly about frontline health workers hence the donation to support the facilities to fight the disease.

He encouraged health workers to be cautious and protect themselves while they attended to clients to prevent them from becoming victims to Corona virus and continue to educate the public on precautionary measures.

The Bishop commended the Medical Doctors Association of California for the kind gesture and support. Mr. Emmanuel Hanson Torde, the Hospital Administrator of the Margret Marquart Catholic Hospital and Acting Director of the Ho Diocesan Health Service who received the items on behalf of the health facilities expressed gratitude to the Bishop for the support.

He said the items would be efficiently used by the facilities in the fight against the pandemic and curb its spread.

In a related development, Mr Eric Kutortse, the Group Chairman of First Sky Company has donated PPE to the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital and the Anfoega Catholic Hospital valued at GH?200,000.00 whilst the Kpando Local Council of Churches also donated PPE to Margaret Marquart Hospital.
