Bishops, Pastors urged to pray for peaceful election- MP

Agona Swedru, Nov. 12, GNA - Mr. Samuel Kweku Obodai, MP for Agona West has appealed to Bishops and pastors of religious bodies to pray for peaceful elections on the December 7.

He stated that it is a crucial moment for the nation; therefore, men of God have a greater role to play in ensuring that the country does not suffer political and socio-economic setback.

Mr Obodai made the appeal at the consecration service of Right Reverend Dr Prince Baah, Founder and Leader of Calvary Crusaders Ministry International at Agona Swedru.

The MP also appealed to the Bishops and Pastors to pray so that the people of the country would continue to enjoy absolute peace and tranquillity.

He stressed that the nation needs to have an economic stability, so that the standards of living of the people would be improved, adding that the nation needs leaders who are God fearing and have the welfare of the nation at heart in order to sustain the democratic process. Mr Obodai urged the newly ordained Bishop, Rt Rev. Dr Baah to use his office of God to bring blessings, prosperity and honour to Agona Swedru and its environ.

Apostle Thomas Wesly Weeks, President of College of Bishops of New Destiny Fellowship International, Wellington in US urged the Bishop not to let his heart be troubled since God would be the provider at all time.

He asked him not to fear the challenges and temptations, which may come his way as man of God and stand firm to resist them all. Apostle Weeks announced that the nation of Ghana was preparing to free herself from economic difficulties, adding that this needed dynamic and truthful leaders to rule the nation.

He said no crisis would hit Ghana because God's hand is upon the country and urged the people not to turn their back to God. He advised the newly Ordained Bishop never to be distracted by the material things of the world, saying that he should be prepared for the disappointments that would come from untrustworthy people and attacks from evil minds.

Apostle Weeks called on him to be temperate, wise, slow in anger, prayerful in decisions and ready to preach the word of God. Nana Kobina Botwi II, Acting President of Nyakrom Traditional Area commended Rev. Dr Baah for his elevation to the position of Bishop and hoped that he would help bring improvement in the lives of the people of Swedru.

Rt. Rev. Dr Baah added his voice to the call on fellow Bishops and Pastors to pray for peaceful elections to enhance development of the nation.
