The newly converted Bolgatanga Technical University Chapter of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) has sworn into office five-member executives to man the affairs of the association in the university.

Until early April, 2020, all polytechnics across the country with the exception of the Bolgatanga and Wa Polytechnics had been converted into technical universities, however, on April 2, the Parliament of Ghana amended the Technical University Act of 2016, Act 922, to give university status to the two remaining polytechnics.

The TUTAG, therefore, becomes a replacement for Polytechnics Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG).

The executives include; Mr Oswald Atiga, Chairman; Madam Leticia Yamga, Vice Chairman; Dr George Duut, Secretary; Mr Baba Ayannor, Organizing Secretary; and Mr Redruth Ayimpoya.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Emmanuel Akampagji, the outgoing Chairman of Bolgatanga TUTAG, explained that the old executives had some challenges transforming from POTAG to TUTAG as it was the transition period, however, with hard work and support from members the change was smooth.

Mr Akampagii said during the tenure of office of the old executives, several reforms were implemented including the establishment of the mutual fund tier-three pension scheme, or otherwise known as a provident fund in line with the new pension’s scheme among others.

He, therefore, called on the new executives to work diligently and continue where the old executives had left to ensure that the wellbeing of members was always met.

On behalf of the newly sworn-in TUTAG executives of the University, Mr Atiga, expressed gratitude to their predecessors for their dedicated service to the association and said leadership was all about teamwork.

While encouraging all the executives to work together in unison for the benefit of their members, the Chairman disclosed that the new executives would operate an open door policy where suggestions would be taken into consideration to help strengthen the association in the university.
