Bonsam constructs orphanage

Amasaman, June 16, GNA - Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a fetish priest of Akomadan Afrancho in the Ashanti Region, has appealed to his colleagues to use some of their earnings, to provide social amenities to deprived communities.

Kwaku Bonsam said the provision of educational structures, orphanages and potable water was key to their work as fetish priests. He made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Sapeiman, where he is constructing a 36-room orphanage, at the cost of GH¢45,000.


Kwaku Bonsam said he had also constructed a 12-unit primary school- block, comprising kindergarten and primary facilities and a junior high school and a computer centre.

He said he had also renovated an abandoned cocoa shed comprising 10 rooms to accommodate police personnel in the area, at the cost of GH¢17,000 and purchased a 47-seater bus at the cost of GH¢280,000 to convey the pupils to school. According to Kwaku Bonsam, he is paying teachers' of the school monthly salaries of GH¢5,800.


He said the projects were his personal contribution towards the development of the community. Mr Atuhene, Headmaster and Mr Seth Osei Mensah, Assistant Headmaster of the school thanked Kwaku Bonsam for his assistance to the community. The two heads appealed to parents to send their wards to the school in order to become useful leaders in future.
