Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma schools receive 75,000 books

Abontem (Ash), Aug 20, GNA- The Ghana Book Trust (GBT) has for the last three years supplied a total of 75,000 books to schools in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District to raise the standard of education in the area. Mr Robert Amoako, the Executive Director of the Trust, who announced this said there are now five books to each school child in the district. The books were bought through the financial support of the Canadian Organisation for the Development of Education (CODE).

Mr Amoako made said when a group of Canadian students currently on tour of the country presented a quantity of exercise books and pencils to the basic school at Abontem on Wednesday. The group's visit was facilitated by the "Butterfly 208", a Canadian organisation that seeks to link school children in Canada with their counterparts in the rest of the world. Mrs Gladys Asamani, the District Director of Education, said the children were grateful to the Canadians for their immense contribution towards the promotion of education in the area. She said, "CODE has been most instrumental in pushing education forward in this district".

Miss Alexandra White of the "Butterfly 208" said their aim was to promote global unity and respect among all people, saying, "every pupil or student can make a big difference".
