Breakdown of ECG Transformer to affect polio exercise

Ahomahomasu (E/R), April 8, GNA - The breakdown of the Electricity Company of Ghana's transformer at Ahomahomasu in the Fanteakwa District would likely affect the second round of the Polo National Immunisation Day (NID) exercise in the Asirebuso sub-district. He said the vaccines had been evacuated to the District Hospital at Begoro, a distance of over 20 kilometres and would would have to be conveyed daily from Begoro to the Ahomahomasu.

Mr Simon Dagbie, the Fanteakwa District Nutrition Officer, said this at a day's workshop on the proper administration of the polio vaccines for 50 volunteers who would undertake the second round of the exercise from April 8 to 10.

Mr Dagbie said 4,159 children from zero to five years are expected to receive polio vaccines and 3,740 children from six months to five years would receive vitamin 'A' supplement capsules.
