Mr Jon Benjamin, British High Commissioner to Ghana, has pledged further strengthening of the development partnership between the two countries.

He said Britain would continue to stand with Ghana every step of the way to fight poverty, improve education and health, and promote good governance and infrastructure development.

Britain would do everything to improve the quality of life and make things better for the population. Mr Benjamin was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after he had paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at his Manhyia Palace, Kumasi. He had visited to officially introduce himself to the King and to deepen the warm relationship that had existed for decades between the Palace and Britain.

Mr Benjamin praised the Asantehene for his quality leadership that was helping to change the situation of the people and lifted the image of chieftaincy, citing initiatives on education, health, information and communication technology and provision of social amenities.

He offered to lend support to the Manhyia Palace to bring socio-economic progress to the people.
