Bryan Acheampong supports the fight against coronavirus in Eastern Region

Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, has donated sanitizers and cash amount totalling GHS 821,000.00 to seven Constituencies and health facilities in the Eastern Region to support the fight against COVID-19.

The donation, included; 107,000 pieces of hand sanitizers costing GHS481,000.00 and an amount of GHS20,000.00 to each of the seven beneficiary district hospitals.

The MP also set up a regional Contingency Fund with another amount of GHS200,000.00 to be used to cushion the operations of the remaining hospitals and health centres within the region.

Presenting the cash and the sanitizers to the beneficiaries at the Rock City Hotel in Nkwatia Kwahu, Mr Acheampong, who is also the Minister of State at the Interior Ministry, underscored the fact that the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic was a global one, and needed all hands on deck.

“Therefore, giving to those in need is not charity, it's humanity”, the MP emphasized.

He mentioned that among the beneficiary constituencies were; Afram Plains North, Afram Plains South, Abirem, Mpraeso, Nkawkaw, Abetifi and Suhum, saying each constituency was also being giving 15,000 pieces of the hand sanitizers.

He said the New Abirem Government Hospital, Atibie Government Hospital, Suhum Government Hospital, Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital, Donkorkrom Presby Hospital, Afram Plains South District Clinics and Kwahu East District Clinics were to receive an amount of GHS20,000.00 each for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).

Mr Acheampong used the occasion to thank all frontline health workers for their hard work during this pandemic.

Ghana’s COVID-19 cases have risen to 641, 83 recoveries and eight deaths.
