Buoyem launches 50 million cedi education fund

The Chiefs and people of Buoyem in the Techiman District realized 17 million cedis at the launch of a 50 million cedi Education Endowment Fund over the weekend.

The fund, initiated by Mr Everson Addo-Donkor, Assemblyman, is to cater for the education of brilliant but needy children to raise the standard of education in the area.

Launching the fund, Mr Odua Mensah, Nkosuahene of Buoyem noted that education was a venture that needed the concerted efforts of all stakeholders including, chiefs, religious bodies and financial institutions.

Mr Mensah, who is also the Quality Education Co-ordinator of World Vision International said it was against this background that government continued to provide infrastructure to many communities in the country for the enhancement of education.

He made a personal donated of one million cedis towards the fund.

Mr Isaac Osei-Antwi, Techiman District Chief Executive, commended the Assemblyman and the chiefs and people for establishing the fund and gave the assurance that the assembly would support it, adding that the assembly is currently sponsoring a number students in training colleges who would soon come out to reinforce teaching in the district.

Mr Osei-Antwi urged the administrators of the fund to be fair, honest and transparent in the selection of the beneficiaries.
