Nkoranza (B/A) Aug. 2, GNA - Mr Stephen Kwadwo Adjei, Managing Director of Progressive Farms at Jerusalem in Nkoranza District on Friday urged the Government to expedite action and expand cassava starch processing projects in many district capitals.

He explained that a number of farmers in the district, for instance had cultivated cassava in the Nkoranza but were not getting market for their produce.

Making the call through the Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza, Mr Adjei, 1994 Brong Ahafo Regional Best farmer said most cassava farms were ripe for harvesting and were getting rotten but there were no buyers. With the current abundance of other foodstuffs as cocoyam, yam, maize and plantain on the markets, cassava attracts a low price, he added.

Mr Adjei said the farmers were as a result facing great financial problems and called on Agricultural Extension Officers to regularly visit farmers on their farms to study their problems for solutions.
