Busunya residents pursue development projects

Busunya (B/A), May 15, GNA- Residents of Busunya, capital of the Nkoranza North District in the Brong Ahafo Region, last year mobilized GH¢ 10,000 to support 'self help' development projects in the area. Mr Kingsley Oheneba Yeboah, Unit Committee Chairman, disclosed this at a meeting with the community to render accounts of the committee for 2007.

He said out of the amount, the community spent about GH¢ 8,000 to construct an information centre, a post office and a mechanized water system.

Mr Yeboah said the committee has also prepared the grounds for the construction of a market to generate more revenue to support the resources of the new Assembly.

He expressed his gratitude to the people for their unity and co-operative spirit towards the organisation of fund raising rallies, which enabled the community to mobilize the resources to move the district forward.

Mr Yeboah talked about the effects of soil erosion on a number of buildings in the Busunya Township, adding that, the committee intends to seek the help of experts to address the problem. He paid tributes to Mr Charles Boampong, Professor Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah, Dr. Fosu Gyabaa, Mr Owusu Abeberese and Mr Kwame Afosa, all philanthropists and citizens of the area for their support towards the rapid development of the district. Nana Okofo Gyabaa II, chief of Busunya, commended the unit committee for their efforts in organising the people for development projects. He stressed the need for the youth to actively participate in communal labour to help complete projects on time.
