C/R Minister worries over chieftaincy disputes

Mr Samuel Sarpong, Central Regional Minister, has expressed grave concern about the high rate of chieftaincy disputes in the region.

He has, therefore, appealed to the Regional House of Chiefs and Traditional Councils to endeavour to resolve those pending issues before them, to facilitate the development of the region.

Mr Sarpong expressed these sentiments when he addressed chiefs and people of Agona Nsaba Traditional Area as part of his familiarization tour of Agona East District and Agona West municipalities.

The Minister was accompanied by Mrs Queenster Pokuah Sawyer, Deputy Regional Minister and MP for the area, top security officers and government officials in the region.

He cited Winneba as a result of protracted chieftaincy disputes, the recent Aboakyer festival celebration was nearly suspended.

He assured the chiefs and people in the Central Region that the government would do everything possible to improve their living standards.

Nana Kofi Yeboah II, Acting Omanhene of Agona Nsaba Traditional Area, appealed to the Minister to help provide the Agona East District with infrastructure development.

He asked the Minister to help the District Assembly to improve the sanitation at Nsaba, the district capital, and other towns in the district to avoid the outbreak of an epidemic.

The Minister and his entourage inspected the work on a two storey girls’ dormitory being financed by the GETFUND at Nsaba Presbyterian and Agona Kwanyako Senior High Schools.

Mr Sarpong later paid a courtesy call on the Kwanyakohene, Nana Ampim Darko V, at his palace at Agona Kwanyako.
