Cape Coast, Dec. 7, GNA - An official of the Central Region branch of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mr Ebenezer Aggrey on Wednesday, expressed concern that irresponsible parenting was widespread in the Cape Coast municipality, with his office recording cases of such nature on daily basis. According to him, the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit, formerly called the Women and Juvenile Unit, also has a large number of child neglect pending before it. Speaking at the regional celebration of "the national children's day", Mr Aggrey said it was unacceptable for parents to neglect their children. The celebration was on the theme: "Orphans and vulnerable children - Our collective responsibility," and organised by the Ghana National Commission on Children (GNCC). Mr Aggrey asked parents to respect the dignity of their children and that they should give them audience, correct them with love, cater for their needs, stressing that anything short of this, was not acceptable. He advised parents with disabled children not to neglect them because of their disabilities.
