Mrs Marina Kingsley-Nyinah, the President and Founder of the Armed Forces Children Association, (AFCA) has said Cadet training remains relevant towards promoting discipline among the youth.
She said apart from the general fitness that the Cadet training provided, it also promoted elementary military knowledge which translated to increased responsibility among the youth.
Mrs Kingsley-Nyinah said this at the closing ceremony of the 1st Joint AFCA Cadet Proficiency Camp, at Sege, in the Greater Accra Region.
The week-long Cadet camping, which was attended by students from Senior High Schools, Junior High and Primary Schools from the Southern sector, was aimed at rejuvenating Cadet’s proficiency in elementary military knowledge, discipline and general fitness for participants.
Mrs Kingsley-Nyinah said AFCA would be replicating such training programmes for the youth in the northern sector and called on other institutions to support the initiative.
She urged the Cadets to always strive to excel and make a difference in their communities.
Mr Otuteye Christian, the MP for Sege Constituency, commended AFCA for the initiative and urged the Association to sustain the programme to help instill discipline in the youth.
Certificates were given to all participants with Cadet Yibor Augustine of CIC Baptist International-Mpraeso Kwahu being adjudged the Best Female Cadet, while Bamfo Emmanuel of Nkawkaw Senior High School was adjudged the Best Male Cadet.
